Miss SA to hand-over cochlear implants for hearing impaired individuals

MISS South Africa Mia le Roux today announced a partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation, as part of her Mia le Roux Movement initiative – which will see cochlear implants given to a number of hearing impaired individuals who cannot afford the life-altering device.

She also visited Eduplex, a parallel medium pre, primary and high private school in Queenswood, Pretoria.

When Nelson Mandela opened Eduplex in 2002, his words were “What you are doing here is changing tragedy into triumph”.

Eduplex is not a school for deaf learners, here two – three deaf learners are included in regular classrooms where they learn normal spoken language, without sign language. She was joined by Second Lady Hlumile Mjongile).
