2023 Netball WC official match-ball and countdown unveiled

NETBALL South Africa unveiled its 2023 World Cup official match ball and the countdown to this much awaited spectacle.

The ball aptly coined ‘kganya’ in Setswana (brightness) was launched in Sun City, Bokone Bophirima, on Tuesday 16, that has been the home of netball matches recently.

The ball connects every corner of the country, from our towering mountains, to our deepest valleys and from the seas to the cities, from small towns to the big five and from the share of humankind to the one of a kind culture.

The African continent was depicted out of a frame with the countdown clock mounted inside of it.

President of Netball South Africa Cecilia Molokwane, says it was important to show something for the path she walked.

“We started working with the City of Cape Town and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture nationally (however) it was not an easy task. At the end of the day, we knew what we wanted,” she said.

Cape Town- Mother City will be the host venue at the ICC.

The reveal occasion was graced by Proteas captain Bongiwe Msomi, Netball World Cup board chairperson & LOC’s Patience Shikwambana and tournament director Priscilla Masis, who unveiled the countdown clock along with the sports minister, Nathi Mthethwa and minister of COGTA Dr Nkosazana Zuma- Dlamini.

“The CTICC will have two venues, the CTICC one and CTICC two, which can accommodate 6000 seats per match. Accommodation has been confirmed for the teams and guests who will be coming.

“All our security plans have been assured. They (teams and guests) will be safe when they come to our country. We also want to congratulate the teams who have qualified already,” says Masis.

The official mascot for the tournament will be revealed on Monday, and tickets and packaging for the Netball World Cup will go live in October.
