Davido and Kidjo to lighten up Macufe 2017

Bac’ in SA. Angelique Kidjo returns to mzansi for the annual Macufe 20th edition.

Usually Macufe’s line-up is released on time but this year, the organizers had to try and match the line up of the popular Dstv Food Delicious hence the delay.

The ten day extravaganza celebrating its 20th edition will see over fifty top stars along with emerging performing acts from September 29 to October 7 2017.

The main festival at Loch Logan on October 7, brings vocally powerful and energetic Angelique Kidjo from Benin; top of the charts and the youth’s most favourite Davido from Nigeria; Swaziland’s sensation Sands popular for the song Tigi Tigi and Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah.

South Africa representative features Afro-pop icons Mafikizolo, king of Afro-ballads Ringo Madlingozi, the village Pope Tsepo Tshola, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Bhudaza, Serame Sediti, Semito, Prince KB with Busiswa, DJ’s Finzo, What What & Ruby Red.

A night before the main festival, on October 6, will be set alight by  blazing recitals former Idols finalist Amanda Black, Thandiswa Mazwai, Angelique Kidjo and Nonkosi at the Divas Concert at The Dome, Old Grey Sports Ground.

The permanent feature Macufe’s Comedy Festival on 5 October at the Old Grey Sports Ground’s Dome comprises of heavyweights David Kau, Tumi Morake, Rasta, Tieho Khakhau, Donovan Goliath, Summary, Lihle Msimang, Thenjiwe Mosley, Salesman, Skhumba and Elton Mduduzi Ntuli.

Tshepe –Sesotho Hip-Hop kicks off on 29 September at The Dome, Old Grey Sports Ground includes Frog, Castino, Thwenny, Mc Fire, Tumi Tladi, Kot Inferno, MalumKoolkat, Gemini Major, Nasty C, DJ’S Speedsta and Shaxe.

Macufe Gospel Festival on October 1 at Old Grey Sports Ground’s Dome will headed by Dr Tumi, Primrose, Sello Malete, Neyi Zimu, Sipho Ngwenya & Thina Zungu, Keorapetse, Teboho, Umsingizane, Thoko, Keke Phoofolo, Biki Mafabatho, Malibongwe Gqwabe, Helen, Tsusie Ntseto and Morwesi.

“We are excited that the thousands of arts and entertainment fanatics coming from around the country; continent and the rest of the world to attend Macufe are going to be presented with yet another brilliant festival,” says MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture Nokwanje Selinah Leeto.

What would Macufe be without The Village Pope Tshepo Tshola? Come listen to that grovel voice you have been missing.

The annual Sparta Cup will again be contested between Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic’s on Sunday 8 October.
