SA loss France gain as RWC 2023 solicit various views

Following the announcement by the organizing committee led by World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont on Wednesday, France was declared the host for the second time. It hosted the finals in 2007.

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s spokesperson, Mayihlome Tshwete said it would have been nice, but the country had bigger issues to deal with.

Sports broadcaster Robert Marawa was another of those who was celebrating France as the preferred host nation over South Africa.

Some believe it would help improve the economical stability and create much needed jobs.

For deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa who was part of the government delegation to London, means its back to business as 2017 ANC Elective Congress takes place in December.

The tournament was expected to have brought a R27bn cash injection for the local economy.
