Rain, dollars and Grace- as NGC tees off

2017 NGC winner and proud South African Brendan Grace, showered with a ‘champopo’ a township lingua for champagne. Will he defend his own- we shall wait until Sunday for a verdict.

The 2018 Nedbank Golf Challenge scheduled from November 8 to 11 2018, at the Gary Player Golf Course signature, features world’s top ranked Golfers.

Confirmed 72 players will toil and sweat the greens as one of them seek glory and fame to win this major that comes with a purse set at $7.5 million, with the winner’s share coming in at €1,069,290 – the standard 16.67 percent payout according to the European Tour’s prize money distribution chart.

Would our revered and first South African to win this tourney in a decade Brendan Grace (2017) defend his 2017 title or his other countrymen do justice come Sunday? Perhaps we shall once again ask for that divine intervention- rain- (as per my SeTswana culture) to help one of our boys win the loot.

He will be joined by Dylan Frittelli, Erik van Rooyen, Louis Oosthuizen and Dean Burmester.

Dubbed the ‘Stroke of Genius’ NGC is once again part of the Rolex Series – the eight premium tournaments on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai, with a prize fund of US$7.5 million at the event in South Africa – and will be a pivotal tournament in helping crown the Race to Dubai Champion.

Volvo, Sun International and Emirates Airlines are some of corporate sponsors whose hospitality marquees will be a hive of activities teeming who’s-who of mzansi.

Ticket prices are R100 each for Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas from Thursday (8) will be available from R90 to R200 each until Friday.

Saturday and Sunday will be available from R100 to R220 (11), according to NGC website.
