The purpose of the association is to address challenges facing tourism industry in the province.
Acting Chief Business Development Officer from NWP&TB Jeff Mabunda, said destination North West has over the past years built a strong market confidence within the International and Domestic markets.
According to Kagiso Legobe, the significance of the body would be to monitor progress within the tourism sector in the province, ensure tour operators comply legislatively, and promote inbound and outbound tourism.
“Our work would also involve aggressive marketing internationally,” says Legobe, who is the chairperson of the association and owner of the successful Kay2ZeeGee.
With the province brand having branched out of the top three to 8, Legobe assured that they’re working tirelessly to fight back and reclaim their position as one of top visited province in the country.
Asked how does it feel to be part of the bigger picture? “It has to do with growth and more responsibilities. It’s no longer about my company but the province now,” says Legobe whose Thailand bound on Monday alongside the NWT board members.
The latter shares the interim structure with his deputy Tebogo Nare of Nare Tours, Dimpho Gopane secretary and Ben Marobe from Mankwe Safaris.
