Yes, today is a national Human Rights Day and this augurs well with the performance of Berita, who is a well known arts and culture campaigner.
Currently promoting her latest single Ndicel’ Ikiss from her independent recording company Assali Music, Berita is thrilled to be performing on the Hard Rock Cafe stage.
Nguwe Wedwa, Mwana wa Mai (feat both late legends Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela), Indoda, Uthandolwam Kuwe, are some of the pieces she will be belting out tonight. And many more.
The Bulawayo born, Zimbabwe 27th June 1991, Berita is a multi award-winning, gold-selling Afrosoul singer, has and continues to work with top SA acts such as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Oskido, Mobi Dixon, and others.
She chose to come to South Africa at the young age of 20 to pursue a career in financials since she has a dream of becoming a known and a successful business woman in the future but as luck would have it, she’s a celebrated songbird to many, including her family, who in 2007 and family had to move and leave Zimbabwe for New Zealand.
She recalls that she spent her sixteenth birthday on the flight on their way there.
The LASA Sessions has played host to the likes of Langa Mavuso, Zoe Modiga, Buhlebendalo Mda, Joel Zuma and Zano. It affords South African musicians a space to come and sing and dance, in the spirit of diversity.
Tickets available at the door for R120.
