Another litmus test for Bafana as they face Nigeria in AFCON Quarter-finals

But who would blame us, and other millions of South Africans- you may ask?

What made the situation untenable was when they lost to Ivory Coast (in the last minute of the game) and a painful draw against neighbours Namibia with headlines screamin’ right into our faces depicting the demise of our football and asking why change the application of the system, late substitutions and why bench top PSL scorer, et al.

But as God’s of football would have it, Bafana would proceed to the Quarter-final stages to face nemesis Nigeria in tonight’s epic clash of the tourney, were punters and bookmakers have had a field day in office. Another litmus test- a big yes.

Yes, its because we deserve best and Bafana knows -so does Boks and Proteas- who unfortunately had a bad spell at the current Cricket World Cup.

Losing with right attitude and determination shows we have a purpose (though I do not subscribe to celebrating mediocre) but this is what should be espoused to all our national teams.

Look, we can and should identify weaker spots the Nigerian team is gullible to, but one thing for certain is, we expect our boys (yes pun intended) to produce miracles. After-all we’ve beaten them in our recent assignments and this evening should be no DIFFERENCE. Yes, but be wary of COMPLACENCY…

Nothing wrong in losing as long as its competitive, there’s determination and hardwork by the players is shown in the field of play.

Yes, even the coach Stuart Baxter agrees and knows South Africans are a hard rainbow nation to PLEASE!

So far so good for Bafana. But If we lose make it easy for us to still wear that jersey with PRIDE. Amen!
