This could be in the form of sponsorships or increased advertising or better still promotional campaigns.
This was the reaction of Pumzile Zonke, the channel’s head- during an audience at the launch of new programmes held at Kramerville- Sandton on Wednesday evening.
“Look our situation is dire but that does not mean we have to fold our arms, a lot of our viewers, whom by the way surpass most of our rivals, rely on us to produce, curate and unleash productive content,” he says without stating figures.
The former actor who has swopped screens for boardrooms tells SLM that, tough times calls for tough decisions in that they had to shed or mute other production houses, but promised they will weather the storm.
“Our strategy as the whole team, is to work with the little we have in our coffers but at the same time this launch after a while, means we’re ready to engage with stakeholders from advertising to sponsorships in an effort to increase our budget for production, etc,” says Zonke looking dapper.
The channel’s new programmes included MAKOTI and AGENT, EMASISWENI, INSTAPRENEURS, NOW OR NEVER, and IT TAKES A VILLAGE- that features former Bafana, Sundowns, Pirates and recently Cape Town City, Teko Modise.
“As a leading youth television brand in the Southern Africa and Mzansi’s Official storyteller, it gives us great joy and pride to launch these new shows and new seasons on our channel as a start of many more to come to our screen in the next few months.
For the longest time SABC 1 has always been a trailblazer and a trendsetter when it comes to local content, and once again it is no different as we invite all our viewers to tune in to what promises to be an exciting and mind-blowing viewing experience on SABC 1 Mzansi Fo Sho.”says Zonke.
