Following its debut Single in Soweto chronicles the life of four ladies who are sometimes sad, occasionally funny, and desperate to mingle with anyone to please them.
“It doesn’t get more real than this,” once commented Thabo “T-bo Touch” Molefe, channel exec officer at Soweto TV.
Soweto TV is recognised for providing the ultimate in entertaining lifestyle content through this unique programming and feature stories that are based on a strong African narrative. Its first ever reality show promises not to disappoint.
This year MultiChoice Group (MCG) selected three community TV stations that each received R1,5m to create original, new content for their audiences. Soweto TV, regarded as the premium channel broadcasting in mzansis largest township, was one of the lucky beneficiaries.
“As Africa’s most-loved storyteller, we pride ourselves on the role we play in the creation of new local talent and this show epitomises the extent of the talent we have on the continent, given the resources and the opportunity,” said Joe Heshu, Multichoice Group executive for Corporate Affairs.
Other supported community channels includes GauTV, 1KZN TV, Cape Town TV, Tshwane and Bay TV stations.
The four-part reality show Single in Soweto airs every Thursday at 7pm on DStv channel 251.
