SMMEs to benefit from this years’ Tribute Concert

THE ANNUAL tribute concert returns.

It will celebrate its 23rd edition at its ‘sacrosanct’ Moretele Park on October 15, 2022.

The line-up is mouthwatering and fit for ‘queens’ and ‘kings’- as we realised this weekend with the coronation of the Zulu King.

According to the moving encyclopaedia of entertainment and founder of the festival Dr Sam Mhangwani, it all began in 1998 at Orlando Stadium and later moved to Moretele Park in Mamelodi East of Pretoria in the city of Tshwane, due to capacity that had increased almost five times, exceeding over 20 000 patrons.

“The Tribute Concert is also the biggest employer of the local artists, as well as several SMME’s that benefit by supplying required services at the event.

We are grateful to our government and the participating private sector stakeholders for the support they have afforded us in the past 23 years. Our main supporter, the National Department of Sports Arts and Culture, City of Tshwane and Gauteng Provincial Government has always made it possible to this day, that SMME’s such as Drakensberg Promotions, the owners of this event, are able to create employment opportunities in the creative sector,” says bra Sam- as he’s fondly revered amongst those in the sector.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic- its time to spring back that summer edition in style, with a line-up featuring chart-busters Ringo Madlingozi, Master KG, Makhadzi, Mafikizolo, Mango Groove, Don Mahwetša Laka, Beritta, Bhudaza, Tu Nokwe and Ami Faku, among others.

“We are equally excited just as music lovers are about the return of the biggest outdoor picnic event in South Africa” continued Mhangwani.

Tickets sales will be made soon to the public through all Computicket outlets.
