The programme Nasi isPani is legit- says Premier Lesufi

NASI iSpani programme is genuine, finish and klaar.

That’ s the response from the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, following circulating reports and social media suggesting CVs of applicants were dumped.

This prompted Lesufi and his office to investigate such callous claims that CVs were dumped and also establish the source of such disturbing and unfounded news.

On Tuesday, Lesufi said his office is investigating the source of the posts, claiming that the CVs of some applicants who applied for advertised vacancies were dumped and will not be processed as per the normal recruitment process.

“Nasi Ispani is a strategic recruitment drive aimed at addressing unemployment and promoting access to job opportunities available within the Gauteng Provincial Government. The programme was launched on June 16. The programme saw thousands of vacancies advertised,” Lesufi said.

He added that there have since been posts seeking to discredit the programme.

The Premier said all the CVs that were received via the jobs and at the 22 walk-in centres, will be accounted for.

“The various entities are currently busy with the capturing process. Once this process has been completed, each of the applicants will receive a reference number confirming receipt of their application via SMS over the next two weeks,” he says.

Lesufi said all those who have submitted their applications in person, their information has been captured on the register.

He said if their CVs could not be found, they would be contacted and asked to resubmit before the July closing date.

Nasi iSpani- job creation- seeks to address joblessness in the province, targeting young graduates and those who have other qualifications or skills.

All Gauteng residents are encouraged to apply online at https://jobs.gauteng.gov.za or https://professionaljobscentre.gpg.gov.za

Meanwhile, thousands of Crime Wardens launched by Lesufi are showing signs of determination.

During his SOPA this year he said:” The provincial government has spent in excess of R450 million to train the wardens. This includes the acquisition of the necessary equipment, like drones, to assist them in their operations.”

He introduced new 6 000 wardens at their passing-out ceremony in Soshanguve, that their duty was not to negotiate with criminals.

During the recent Bafana vs Morocco Qualifier match at FNB Stadium last week, thousands of Crime Wardens in their green- overalls were visible from every corner.
