‘City is going to be a living organism’ says the founders of a billion-rand Eloff Precinct

TITUS Makoro talks big numbers.

He articulates himself as ambitious, visionary, and a businessman who treads were others have failed…

Failed in the sense the popular Pyramid Conference Center in Eloff Street, is the shadow of former glory, but this will change, soon.

This is because the Limpopo born Titus, is championing a ground-breaking project worth a billion-rand to establish a multifunctional 24-hour Precinct on Eloff Street, Jozi. This points to my top assertion ‘tread were others have failed’, a vision developed some twelve years ago.

The City of Gold- once upon, but according to Titus, is to redefine the city, making it a place where residents and visitors can once again fall in love with the vibrant culture and opportunities it offers.

The 24-hour Precinct aims to provide state-of-the-art safety features, whilst also serving as a hub for entertainment, learning and community development across all age groups.

The multibillion-rand project coincided with the re-launch of House of Destiny Beauty School, in Eloff extension, recently, amid the fanfare from businesspeople and prominent guests.

Speaking on the school, Titus echoed:” This project is an opportunity to recreate and build human capital. The lifestyle and beauty industry is not just about aesthetics; it is about empowerment, confidence, and creativity.

It is about finding ways to embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution and equipping our students with valuable skills that are aligned with digitalization instead of being fearful that we will lose jobs.”

“We are on a mission to develop a new cohort of premium skills that go beyond traditional beauty education. Our focus is on innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the use of technology to revolutionise the way we approach beauty.”

It is part of the nationally accredited Destiny Academy, with SETA and ITEC international accreditation, offering students opportunities for employment both locally and abroad.

“Beauty industry is worth a projected R4,7bn and attracts investors globally, hence the decision to expatiate on the project in South Africa,” continued the bespectacled Titus, whose favourite green colour was evident from his shoes, to paintings at the venue.

The institution provides various training programmes for students and three-year courses, that are tailored made to suit your pocket.

A hospitality person, who earned his stripes within the industry moons ago, Titus touched on transforming what was known as ‘notorious’ venue into an urban regeneration as part of Government’s mandate to turn Cities around.

The Precinct, worth R1,5bn over five-years, will feature a commercial space on the ground floor, two levels of parking, educational facilities, a 14-room hotel block, residential areas, and 24-hour surveillance for safety.

Bubbly architect Moremi Mowela, outlined the building strategy, including urban regeneration plans and the acquisition of the former Pyramid Beauty School, which will add a minimalistic, elegant, and industrial touch to the industrial area.

The Precinct would also feature a famous ‘Nile River’ as a result of a pyramid, says Moremi, who described it as ‘movement of people or meandering’.

“This is real economic measure and human capital that would create much needed jobs. This is revolutionarising the City, and the more buy-ins from Government and private sector, the better for all,” says the Tembisa born, who boasted ‘we’ve ignited the fire.’

As the sunset, guests were spoiled with body massages and beverages to sum-up what is a ‘visionary’ outlook for the Precinct.
