Although no further details were given on the sudden change of hearts, it has been confirmed that the public broadcaster was unhappy and “could not agree on certain terms and conditions during negotiations”.
With the jazz fest only happening next week, it would seem impossible or difficult to find a suitable replacement as a media partner.
The SABC is reported to have said on Wednesday that it will “continue to partner with organisers whose events have a strategic fit to our broadcasting mandate”.
At the time of publishing no comment was obtained from either SABC or the jazz organizers for clarity and the reason behind the sudden decision.
However, SABC has indicated it will pursue talks for next year.
