30-years’ entertaining SA and the world- is no small feat. Kudos to Mr Nkosi!

METRO FMs legendary Wilson B. Nkosi celebrates a fab 30-years’ within the entertainment sector.

The host of the popular ‘Sounds and Stuff Like That’ since joining the SABC as far back as 1986, will be honoured with a gala dinner on June 29 at the Emperors Palace, Ekurhuleni.

The radio icon born at Piet Retief, Mpumalanga (the host province of the 2024 Metro FM awards on April 27) should be proud for having being honoured whilst still alive, that spans a sterling 30 years’ in the showbiz industry.

As a result of his soothing voice, most of his ardent listeners enjoy whenever he addresses them in their own clan name (isithakazelo), whose own Nkosi goes “Nkosi! Ndlangamandla! Nkonyane yenkosi! Nkosi! The one with great power! The calf of the king!)

To add to a string of awards he has bagged, recently, he was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement recognition at the Cultural and Creative Industries, by the national department of Sport, Arts and Culture, minister Zizi Kodwa.

T&S Platinum Concerts, organisers of the much awaited evening, have gone all out to secure signature brands such as Sjava, Mafikizolo, and Lwa Ndlukulu, and DJs Msizi Shembe, Sentle Lehoko, Collen Zondo, DJ Muntu, Morda and Tbose.

Raised in eSwatini, the cool -as a -cucumber Bafana, has ‘promised’ to spin the decks on the evening.

The (47) has seen it all, heard it all, from being mocked by certain media houses that his presence is long overdue at the station, to being threatened by disgruntled music promoters and fans alike. He’s weathered the storm and till this day, still standing tall…

Besides wooing fans on Sundays’, he’s a gym fanatic. And loves his baggy jeans and caps.

This larger than life but private radio presenter, who stands by ethos ‘private’ still remains private, especially on his family.

Tickets for the concert are available at Computicket, starting from R500 per person.
