Chiefs are coming off a 2-0 away defeat against Raja Casablanca.
“Whether or not my not being on the bench is a distraction I don’t know,” Baxter said yesterday.
“I think we played very well against Raja in Morocco. And I don’t think the boys heard one word I said because the crowd was so hostile and noisy. So you don’t need to over-exaggerate the importance of me not being on the bench.
“Doc will take care of anything immediately – if there’s anything special I see, I’m sure I’ll get a message down to him.
“The boys will take extra responsibility, and that’s how it has to be. I think we have a well-drilled team. It’s going to be about our discipline, our focus, will-power and desire to do the job properly. If the players do that it will make everything a lot easier.”
Chiefs have fullbacks Siboniso Gaxa and Tsepo Masilela available, having missed the match against Leopards through suspension.
AmaZulu coach Steve Barker does not believe Chiefs lacked focus against Raja.
“I thought they applied themselves very well on the weekend,” the architect of a remarkable revival at Usuthu said.
“Chiefs created a lot of chances. They are still the best team in the league in my opinion – they’ve still got an eight-point lead nearing the end of the season.
“They’re a quality team, well coached and play to their strengths. They’re well organised, good at set- pieces, have individual brilliance and players who can win matches. So it’s a mammoth task for us away from home.”
AmaZulu have gone five matches unbeaten in the PSL, three of those victories.
