REALEBOGA. Siyabulela Cape Town for turning out in big numbers to support Bafana Bafana.
The Hugo Broos boys thumped hapless South Sudan 3-0 to stamp their authority for the 2025 AFCON to be held in Morocco.
This was the final match for both side in Group K qualifying, of which Bafana qualified in advance before last night’s match at the packed DHL Cape Town Stadium.
The result means that Bafana Bafana wrap up qualification for the continental showpiece at the top of the group’s standings.
The host opened the scoring in the seventh minute when an unmarked Iqraam Rayners netted after Oswin Appollis drew in a number of defenders on the left side of the penalty area and then cut the ball back for Rayners to score.
Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi scored a beauty of a second goal after the South Sudan goalkeeper spilled a speculative long-range shot from Teboho Mokoena in the 22nd minute.
Mokoena added a third goal from a penalty spot.
Broos, a true leader gave most of the Cape Town side based players a run, including the Stellies goalkeeper, who said he looks forward to a four-months rest although it “will have an impact on the players come 2025”.
Some of rugby and cricket former players also witnessed Bafana’s win.
