A new political climate is what is expected during 2025 SONA.
Under the formation of Government of National Unity (GNU), President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, will deliver the State of the Nation Address, knowing at the back of his mind, the game is totally different. It will be his first address as part of the GNU.
Land reform, unemployment, investment opportunities and corruption are some of key challenges, he will certainly address in his highly anticipated speech tonight in Cape Town.
Albeit there is scepticism, some believe the formation of GNU could effect positivity, though there’s back and forth between ANC and the DA on certain policies that caught the ‘hair’ of US President Donald Trump.
Pres Ramaphosa is also expected to address the issue of SANDF soldiers who perished in DRC- without going into the details on whether he has commercial interest in that country, amongst others, as per media reports making headlines.
On the song and dance- critics including South Africans, are against extravagance and expensive ceremony, including the use of military display, which instead should be dedicated to fallen Sons’ of the soil- SANDF.
MKP’s Mzwanele Manyi said they expect nothing much from SONA, apart from rhetoric speech.
