adidas Road to Glory campaign comes at the right time as Downs’ players prepare for CAF finals

AS the football season draws to a close globally, here in SA, German apparel adidas has unveiled its latest campaign.

It will feature serial PSL champs’ Mamelodi Sundowns player’s -goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams (in Copa), Aubrey Modiba (F50) and Siyabonga Mabhena (Predator) soccer boots, as part of the Road to Glory pack campaign, worldwide.

The players will unleash their latest pairs against Egyptian club, Pyramids FC, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, during the CAF Championship League finals.

Masandawana will also feature at the FIFA Club World Cup in June, against top football outfits.

Other key adidas athletes including Alessia Russo, Ousmane Dembele, Aitana Bonmati, Federico DiMarco, Caitlin Foord, Vicky Lopez and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, will debut the Road to Glory pack in their pursuit of UEFA Champions League glory in both the Women’s and Men’s competitions.

An all-new upper optic for the adidas F50 sees the F50 branding pushed front and centre, dominating the lateral forefoot of the boot, with purple and aberrated graphic elements giving the boot the immediate impression of speed.

Predator offers a clean and premium take on the goal-scorer’s boot of choice, with the white base providing a perfect stage for the black SL rubber StrikeSkin and adidas branding on the inside and outside of the boot.

Each boot contains a repeating franchise brand wordmark reminiscent of those found on luxury brands. F50 and Predator feature their call-outs on the outsole of the boot, whilst the COPA Pure III’s repeated branding wraps the full upper for a lux extra touch.

The adidas Road to Glory Pack football boots will be available in adults and junior sizes across price points, with Laced and Laceless models available in selected models, priced from R1299 – R5999.

Sundowns will be aiming for their second CAF Champions League crown.

Aubrey Modiba, Downs left-back defender says he’s hoping it will be second time lucky for him in his second continental final.

The Bafana Bafana international played in the CAF Confederation Cup final for SuperSport United when they lost to TP Mazembe in 2017.

“The last time I played for SuperSport it was our first one. We didn’t have much experience, we saw how we fell short in that game but right now having played so many Champions League games at Sundowns, I think right now we understand what it takes to reach the final and try and win it, because it has been eluding us for so many years but I think we are on the right track.”

Saturday’s first leg kicks off at 3pm, at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld.

The return leg will be in Egypt a week later.
