Soweto Fashion Week receives a boost in partnering with Joburg Tourism

JOHANNESBURG Tourism is proud to announce its partnership with Soweto Fashion Week for the Autumn/Winter 2026 showcase, taking place at the Soweto Theatre from 28 April to 1 May 2026.

This collaboration celebrates Johannesburg’s vibrant cultural heritage and creative spirit, positioning the city as a global hub for fashion, innovation and tourism.

The Autumn/Winter 2026 showcase will be a landmark celebration of local innovation and artistry.

By uniting designers and creative entrepreneurs on an international stage, Soweto Fashion Week reinforces Johannesburg’s reputation as a destination where fashion and tourism converge to create powerful experiences. This year’s event highlights the city’s ability to inspire, attract and connect communities through creativity.

“This partnership shines a spotlight on Johannesburg’s cultural heritage and creative energy, positioning our city as a global hub for fashion, design, innovation and tourism,” said Belu Mabandla, Executive Head for Destination Marketing & Events at Joburg Tourism.

“It reflects our commitment to elevating local talent, fostering economic growth and showcasing the dynamic spirit that defines Johannesburg.

As part of the collaboration, Joburg Tourism will facilitate a market featuring a diverse range of SMMEs whose ingenuity and craftsmanship embody the city’s dynamic fashion scene:

  • Africa Fashion Alive – Ready-to-wear and bespoke clothing featuring hand-dyed textiles, upcycled leather bags, and artistic designs, founded by Lindiwe Gigaba.
  • Lentique Creative Studio – Handcrafted leather accessories that combine durability with elegant design.
  • Odwa by Milli – Vintage-inspired silhouettes transformed with heritage fabrics by designer Millicent Owino.
  • Scenty by Nonkosi – High-end yet affordable fragrances from Alexandra Township, supporting women-led entrepreneurship.
  • Season Creations Accessories – Handmade jewellery and accessories, from colourful bracelets to beaded bags.
  • Sekgosi Luxury Urban Jewellery – One-of-a-kind pieces crafted with semi-precious stones, crystals, and sterling silver, including the Gravitas, Xum, Recycled Paper, and Leano ranges.
  • Yammie Collectionz – Inclusive designs blending traditional and modern influences, founded by Vuyo Mavuso.
