IN 2025 Siyabonga Zondo won the King of Kicks debuting competition.
The lad from kasie Jabulani-Soweto won a sneaker vault stacked with some of the rarest and most coveted sneakers in the country to the value of R300 000.
Following the successful campaign, it was launched recently to establish who will be the King of Kicks 2026, in partnership with Russian Bear and YFM.
The first selection of sneakers that make up this year’s ultimate prize – a sneaker vault valued at R200, 000; will over coming weeks add more sought-after sneakers to the vault, that would see the value increase to a cool R300 000.
Siviwe Mgolodela, Senior Brand Manager for Russian Bear, said the campaign continues to celebrate the people driving sneaker culture forward.
He added, “King of Kicks has grown into much more than a competition. It has become a platform that celebrates creativity, individuality and the communities shaping sneaker culture in South Africa.
This launch marks the beginning of another incredible journey, and we’re excited to reveal more of the vault each week as we build towards crowning this year’s King of Kicks.”
As each week unfolds, additional iconic sneakers will be added to the collection, building anticipation ahead of the October finale, where one sneakerhead will walk away with one of the country’s most coveted sneaker vault.
One YFM female DJ Fefe, presented over a pair of expensive sneakers that are safely locked in the vault, at the launch held at the youth fm’s studios at Dunkeld.
And yes, most of guests showed off their top designer sneakers.
The 2025 winner is eligible to enter once again, it was confirmed by the PR team.
