Expect scatterlings of Africa song at the Scatterlings Music fest this Saturday, that will feature Sipho Mchunu and other top SA expats

THE famous road along the Huddle Park that straddles between Joburg and Ekurhuleni is the venue to be at this Saturday.

The invite- Scatterlings Music festival is the reason, as the gigantic stage and marquees have been erected to welcome thousands of music lovers for this epic show.

Curated and conceptualised by Jesse Clegg and Msaki, Scatterlings Music Festival sees artists coming together to celebrate the heritage of South Africa.

It has been scheduled for August 1, at the well-liked HuddlePark- Jozi.

Featuring the legendary Sipho Mchunu from Juluka, it boast top drawers from Zakes Bantwini, Sjava, Sun-El Musician, J’Something, Simmy, Msaki, Jesse Clegg, MUZI, Beatenberg, Sminofu, Tresor, Zolani Mahola and others.

uBaba Mchunu, was a marvel to watch during his heydays with Juluka in 1970s to 80s, and performed alongside Jesse’s dad Johnnie Clegg, forming a deadly partnership that saw them tour the world, mesmerising audiences and ate from the palm of their hands.

The KwaZulu-Natal born, brought compositions, vocals and that famous guitar work in Zulu folk styles namely maskandi and mbaqanga to mzansi and the world.

And yes, he had a big influence on Johnny to such an extent- the latter was so fluent in isiZulu.

“On 1 August, Scatterlings Music Festival comes to life as thousands will gather for a one-night-only celebration of music and meaning – where audiences don’t just watch, but become part of the story,” vowed Clegg, who was hard at work with rehearsals.

Packed with a genre-spanning line-up and deeply resonant message, the Scatterlings fest – is set to be one of the most anticipated live events of the year, in mzansi especially with the line-up led by guitarist of note uBaba Mchunu.

The intention is to deliver an unforgettable live experience that blends legacy, sound, and shared connection on one stage, young and old.

Expect fans to sing-alongs from their favourite hits that will resonate on the sunny but chilly day at HuddlePark.

So, expect a bit of Juluka nostalgic moments- folks and that Scatterlings of Africa song to reverberate on the day.
