BAFANA Bafana are gearing up to face Guinea in the AFCON 2027 qualifier at Orlando Stadium, on Saturday.
With new coach at the helm in the form of Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane and technical team, it has been confirmed the only player from Kaizer Chiefs’ Lebohang Maboe has been ruled out due to injury.
“He twisted his ankle while playing for Chiefs and after undergoing a scan, he will be ruled out from the current camp and this Fifa window,” Bafana team doctor Tshepo Molobi, ruled.
In his replacement is Orlando Pirates’ Tshepang Moremi.
The right-wing Moremi’s inclusion in the squad takes amount of Bucs players to six.
Moremi will be remembered for providing the cross from which Thapelo Maseko scored in South Africa’s 1-0 win over South Korea at the 2026 Fifa World Cup finals, during coach Hugo Broos era.
His return in the team will be a booster for the player whose presence at his club keeps improving.
After Guinea, Bafana takes on Eritrea in Egypt four days later.
They will also play Egypt in a friendly international game in Cairo on October 4.
Mosimane also confirmed former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper coach Marcus Mashilo has been roped into the Bafana technical team, who also praised level of professionalism from the players’
