To signify the importance of the awards whose theme “legends don’t stop they ask what’s next?” plans are afoot from launch parties to the actual ceremony on February 27 at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Center.
MMA’s has signed a deal with Audi SA, although unconfirmed for how long. We investigate.
We chat to Thapelo Bapela, Audi SA marketing department.
SLM: How long is the marriage?
TB: Currently the partnership is for only the 2016 MetroFM Music Awards.
SLM: What is the value cost of the deal?
TB: Unfortunately this is between the station and Audi.
SLM: What would be economical benefits/ROIs of AUDI SA as a brand?
TB: As a brand we are aligning with another brand which has synonymous values to ours, dynamic and progressive. This allows us to reach an audience which by large is fitting to the Audi family and solidify our rich-standing heritage with music in South Africa.
SLM: On the evening of the much anticipated event, will we see an AUDI vehicle presented to a musician or any public member in the form of competition, if there’s any?
TB: Unfortunately we will not be giving away a vehicle but are currently running a competition on MetroFM where one lucky winner stands the chance to win a VIP Experience to the MMAs with their partner.
SLM: In a nutshell, how many units will be allocated to the build-up of the event (pre and post?)
TB: We will be utilising 30 Audi A4’s to privately chauffeur guests to and from the airport as well as to the black carpet. We will also have Virtual Reality activations pre-awards and during.
Meanwhile, voting for the awards closed on February 14, but ‘Song of the Year’ votes will only close February 27 at 21:30.
