This follows two top figures at the SABC-one broadcaster and other acting group CEO announ
cing their resignations for various reasons.
Firstly, it’s the controversial DJ Thabo “T-Bo Touch” Molefe, who according to sources resigned last week in letter addressed to his employers.
The contents read he “thanks SABC for the time and efforts in building my TV and radio career”.
I pride myself to be counted among a great team of broadcasters that has graced this corporation,” says Touch, the son of former SABC headhoncho Phil Molefe.
Touch was suspended earlier this year after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with a fellow staff member and refusing to read advertisements on air — allegations that he denied.
As a result the station lost R15m deal from Hyundai.
After the suspension‚ his contract was renewed for what insiders told was an “offer he couldn’t refuse.”
Some believe he used the platform to garner personal sponsors and befriending top officials such as sport minister Fikile Mbalula and boxing star Floyd Mayweather.
What led to this sudden turn of events remains a mystery and the truth remains sketchy.
Touch, a businessman was unavailable for comment.
Meanwhile‚ acting CE Jimi Matthews also tweeted his own resignation letter on Monday‚ saying that he has compromised his values.
