ITS do or die as Mamelodi Sundowns prepares for another battle against Pyramids in the second leg of the CAF championship on Sunday, in Egypt.
Both sides played to 1-all draw at Loftus Stadium, last weekend.
Sundowns, who are PSL champs for the record 8 times in succession, can’t expect to sit back- and have to score at least one goal.
The team boast some of the best players in SA and Europe, and they will have to carry the hopes and dreams of South African’s on Sunday, by winning the silverware they won nine years ago, under coach Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane.
Now under the guidance of Miguel Cardoso, Downs’ have broken all records held by previous coaches, a sign that the players are heading the call to strike whilst the rod is hot.
However, to add that second elusive star on the jersey, the boys are going to need both their attacking flair defensive ability to get the job done.
Its never going to be easy in Egypt due to hostility towards SA teams; and Downs’ players and technical team are aware of such environments, hence an early goal will trouble Pryamids, who are no push-overs either.
The fact that they scored in Pretoria, shows the kind of aggressive football they’re used to.
But Masandawana, who have been knocked down, kicked, swore at and pushed to the limit- will have to rise-up and stand up to their marketing mantra “the sky is limited” on Sunday.
It’s a Do or Die- but Downs’ must add that second star, or kanjani?
What could also play to Masandawana’s advantage- coach of Pyramids has complaint bitterly on the non-support by the Eyptian Football Association, in relation to the fixtures the team has to go through, which did go well down with football honchos that side.
