The launch took place in Sandton, and the showdown will be played on July 19 at BidVest Stadium.
Etv Head of Programmes, Monde Thwala, said that they felt it was important they give back to the community. He said the motive behind this initiative is to uplift the lives of the less-privileged in the society.
“The Charity Showdown is more than just football. It is about family. We have chosen teams from different provinces to reach all corners.
It will help sustain the lives of some young people in the country. It will be a day full of fun for everyone who will be at the stadium on the day,” Thwala concluded.
Funds generated from this tournament will benefit a charity called, Lunchbox Fund, that feeds children in different schools in the country.
