AS indicated in previous report, the Betway PSL title decider is far from being over. So, pundits, take a backseat.
This was affirmed by Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates last night at FNB Stadium, that saw over 60 000 fans in attendance.
The win means Downs title hopes are back on track, albeit at a very slim chance and dependent on other clubs performance.
“The win means we’ve opened the log for other teams,” was the reaction of Sandawana’s mentor Miguel Cardoso, who seemed happy but poised during media interview.
Brayan Leon, a Colombian national, scored a brace to hurt Bucs chance to hold on the league log, while Patrick Maswanganyi tried to get his team back in the game with a solitary goal, thanks to a deflection from Downs defender.
The inflicting loss was first for Bucs in 2026 season after 14 unbeaten games.
The game was fast paced and did whet the appetite of fans who packed the Calabash on a midweek.
Bucs now turn their focus to Nedbank Cup on Saturday at Orlando Amstel Arena, whereas Downs’ face TS Galaxy in another Nedbank assignment on Saturday.
