‘Coming back home’- reiterate Jazzy B from Soul II Soul

WITH the countdown to the Liberty ‘An Intimate Evening’ concert series, tickets are fast selling.

This was confirmed in confidence by the company’s head of brand at recent media engagement with TKZee, DJ Admiral and of course the man of the moment Jazzy B- Soul II Soul lead band member.

The soiree was held at the Saints eatery, at the secluded spot right in the middle of the bustling Sandton, that drew attention of SA’s de la crème.

According to Marees Bostander, Head of Brand Strategy and Sponsorships at Liberty, who remarked they’re delighted will be going down memory lanes with top musical acts, who espouses authenticity in their own right.

“Having Soul II Soul and TKZee on board for us, as Liberty, means nostalgic moments, and the only way to put it out there is through music, that is understood by everyone, it does not dictate, instead a youngster who has a classic record of Jazzy B/TKZee in a township, understand the value of that vinyl- a sign of preserving art at a very young age.

Now as an insurance company, all that must be protected, insured and it gives us pleasure to leverage on that,” Bostander, told this reporter, pre live show with Jazzy B from abroad.

The fully-bearded rapper in his opening remark, said SA is now his second home and look forward to another welcoming party this week, regaled Jazzy B.

“It was an easy decision to be party to come back because of various interconnectedness between me and SA. From arts, culture, respect all that informs what kind of a person you are, Ubuntu, etc.

So, next week (this week) I will be learning more. So consider our trip as more educational, reconnecting with our masses on the ground,” quipped B, much to the applause.

Celebrated for their timeless classics such as “Keep On Movin’” and the chart-topping “Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)”, Soul II Soul’s influence on the music scene remains palpable, having reached number one in both the US and the UK upon release in 1989.

Kabelo and Zwai, during media session with seasoned broadcaster Brenda Sisane, also concurred, look forward going down memory lanes as they will be belting out their top selling hits to the fans on the evening this Saturday.

Phalafala” and “Shibobo” and many more will be delivering a sermon, since we all know “Bugga Luv” is now a Priest.

SA’s stalwarts Vinny Da Vinci, Christos and broadcaster par excellence Nothemba Madumo, graced the event as arranged by their buddy DJ Greg Maloka, so was DJ Admiral- the son of former SSA minister Ronnie Kasrils.

We have spoken to the Gods of rain, to behave, but should that not happen, our spectators will be taken care of,’ warned Bostander on the Joburg leg, who also noted tickets are fast selling out.

Montecasino opens the first of the two-legged affair on February 1, followed by Cape Town at Kirstenbosch on 8.
