Mokoka was shot several times by a student constable, allegedly with an R5 rifle at point blank range, after police raided his home.
Police searched the property but no firearms were found.
But the police’s Kay Makhubela said the information the officers received was “correct.”
“We still believe the information we got is correct and the gang are in possession of firearms.”
It is alleged that a few hours before the raid, the grade 9 pupil had witnessed the stabbing of a friend by a rival gang member.
But, his uncle, Russel Mokoka, denied the allegations against his nephew.
“No he was not aggressive, he never smoked and he was innocent all the time.”
Meanwhile, the Independent Complaints Directorate was expected to make a decision on Friday on whether to arrest the officer who fired the shots.
