BIG guns of football attended the much awaited battle.
Wait for it- to experience the famous ‘kaboyellow’ when Mamelodi Sundowns clinched the inaugural Africa Football League (AFL) champions in style.
They beat Wydad Casablanca 2-0 to win 3-2 in aggregate at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, to pocket R75million for winning the title.
Wydad, had in the past knocked Downs’ out from the Caf Champions League semifinal at the same venue in May, so it was a matter of pay-back time.
The likes of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) boss Gianni Infantino and Patrice Motsepe- CAF president (both attended the Soweto derby) and others, graced the showpiece.
For Downs’ they did well for their victory and became the first team to win the AFL.
Next step is the Champions League.
