FORMER Tswaing Municipality Mayor Ceasar Mogatusi is no more.
He met his untimely death last week Wednesday morning, en-route to work (Mahikeng) in a fatal accident between Delareyville and Lichtenburg, that also claimed a passenger who was with Mogatusi.
At the time of his passing, Mogatusi was devout African National Congress member and Parliamentary Liaison Officer in the office of MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and) Traditional Affairs, Nono Maloyi.
He had joined the office last year, after his mayoral position.
In delivering message of condolences to the family, fellow staff members and friends within the ANC, MEC Maloyi said it is indeed a great loss for the department as we still expected a lot from him, given his experience in local government as a former Mayor of Tswaing local municipality.
“The department will remember him as a dedicated and committed staff member, an experience he showed in a short period of time”, said MEC Maloyi.
Papiki as he was also referred to – was a village boy from Ganalaagte, who also dabbled as a farmer. He was a teacher.
According to his distraught friend Lekaota Nage, they will miss his charm and engaging the community on political matters, especially youth (umrabulo) ANC’s policy on political education.
On several occasions I had interacted with, he came across as ‘politician more than a capitalist’ and also enjoyed his ‘forbidden waters’.
Service will begin at Delareyville stadium on Saturday morning -28 January, thereafter proceed to Ganalaagte for burial and back to Delareyville for refreshments.
Politicians, Mayors, Dikgosi & Dikgosana and ordinary folks will attend in large numbers to bid farewell to the ‘son of the soil’.
He was 55 and lives behind a wife, children, nieces and nephews.
