Gone too soon. Broadcaster of note Thabiso Sikwane’s void will be hard to fill

WE never met officially nor exchanged pleasantries but through radio, we did.

It is with sadness we send our final words of comfort to the family of radio legend ausi Thabiso Sikwane, who passed-on last week due to ill-health.

My fond memories was the morning show she did with both legendary David O’ Sullivan and comedian Goliath on Kaya 959. It was a religion for me not to miss it, informative and fun, that it was.

Ausi Thabiso also had a stint with the likes of SAfm and PowerFM.

Her death come a month after she had celebrated her 50th birthday on July 3, and was married to the great Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane.

Since the news of her passing, social media has been flooded with heartfelt tributes from colleagues, friends, and fans alike, all remembering the warmth, wisdom, and charisma that Thabiso brought to the airwaves.

This morning another great soul Thabo “T-Bose” Mokwele, on Kaya 959, recorded Thabiso was a great person, both in and outside and her persona touched many.

Ausi Thabiso will be cremated in a private ceremony, as announced by her family, today, Friday at 3C Ministries Church in Irene, Centurion.

The family expressed their desire for a vibrant celebration of Thabiso’s life, asking mourners to wear “African bright” attire instead of traditional black.

“The dress code is African bright, strictly no black,” the family stated, emphasising the importance of honouring Thabiso’s legacy with colour and joy.

As she would say in her home language seTswana ‘itlhokomeleng’ take care of yourselves, ausi Thabiso leaves behind two children.

The minister of sport and recreation Gayton McKenzie and other dignitaries are at the funeral.

She was (50) at the time of passing. Gone way too soon.
