Grants recipients hopping mad at Alex Sassa branch- thanks to load-shedding

DISGRUNTLED Pensioners, disabled and grants recipients are the most affected by the sudden electricity cut-off or load-shedding schedules.

This morning residents were hopping mad at the SASSA -Alexandra-SanKopano branch, following the shutdown of some of computers, as a result service was interrupted.

Hordes of elders and mothers of ‘joy of bundles’ had to be turned home or wait for a miracle to happen.

Gogos and mkhulus from Alexandra and other nearby regions were agitated but though had to put a brave face to deal with load-shedding that has affected services at the center.

My Gran was also part of the worried lot who did not manage to swop her previous card to a new one. This month she did not receive her grant as a result of old CPS white card.

A Johannesburg city official acknowledged on Tuesday that both residents and administrators were caught off guard by the cut-off.

A call to spokesperson for South African Social Security Agency- Paseka Letsatsi was made to investigate on whether he was aware of the situation at Alex-San Kopano Center, and his response was they were unaware but will check with branch manager to verify and how to mitigate.

“We shall get our team to establish what might have caused the system collapse suffice to indicate the load-shedding problem,” he said.

By the time we left the branch around 12 some of the system was still down.

Meanwhile, the first citizen of the country Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa is angered by the situation and has summoned the minister of public enterprises and other stakeholders to work around the clock to remedy the situation.

He also demands a full detailed report on sudden load-shedding upon his return from Ethiopia.

Residents can track the latest schedule via the City Power website.
