Heritage festival- a ‘platform to showcase the soul of the province’

ITS that time of the year- all roads lead to Venda!

The occasion: the annual Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival, scheduled at the heritage site Nandoni Dam on September 13, for its 11th iteration.

As per customary the organisers broke the bank to acquire the signature of SA’s best entertainers, including the ‘wayward’ Makhadzi, who makes the return having refused to show up last year owing to an exorbitant appearance fee.

Instead she hosted three-parallel events on the same very weekend, that failed to live-up to its expectations.

Other leading acts feature Limpopo’s own Dr Joe Shirimane, Colbert Mukwevho, Benny Mayengani, and Leonard Zhakata.

And of course the fest would be incomplete without Scorpion Kings, Kelvin Momo, Ami Faku, Jazzworx & Thukuthela, Zee Nxumalo, Nkosazana Daughter, Lady Amar, Shebeshxt, Kharishma, Sol Phenduka, Ciza, and others.

The festival will be preceded with a gospel event on Friday 12, at Agape City in
Vuwani.

Festival spokesperson Divhambele Mbalavhali has promised patrons that the “festival is about unity, heritage, and joy.

“It’s a platform to showcase the soul of our province and the greater South Africa,” Mbalavhali was quoted, who also promised Police and security will be amplified.

Pre and post the festival, millions are generated into the coffers of the province- thanks to sold out hotels and B&Bs, use of transport, hawkers, local security and selling of merchandise, etc.

This also grows tourism visit in the area of Venda and other neigbouring areas, since this also allows those who work outside the province to visit their paternal homes.

Tickets are available from Computicket outlets from R250.
