On a day registered as pay day, at a location between Johannesburg and the Republic’s capital – fine cuisine got to meet interactive “live action stations” upon a journey of culinary delights.

Newly appointed executive chef, Leon van Deventer and his team have created a full sensory culinary experience at the lodge which matches the venue’s historical natural charm and modern luxury.

Van Deventer has been working hard behind the scenes under the guidance of a 2 Star international Michelin chef to refresh and align the offerings to international standards which match the venue’s 5 star sister establishments.

“African Pride Irene Country Lodge is one of the country’s best kept secrets,” offered van Deventer.  “Famous for its Sunday lunch, we’ve disposed of the buffet, and have introduced live action stations.

This food concept titillates all the senses, making the culinary experience all the richer,” added van Deventer.

Live action stations bring parts of the process of cooking into the dining area and chefs prepare individual meals for guests at their request. It means the freshest, most sumptuous dishes are prepared on site and in sight, whilst guests engage with the chefs who prepare the fare.

“Guests are spoilt for choice at African Pride Irene Country Lodge, which has arguably the best breakfast experience in Gauteng with offerings from eggs benedict to beautifully glazed gammon to compliment our ethos of beautiful food,” opined Chef van Deventer.

A favourite with local and international guests is The Meadow Green – which is famous for its Sunday lunches and vast breakfast selection. The introduction of live action lunches and dinners [available from Thursday at dinner to Sunday at lunch] promises to delight and enchant diners even more.

The Saturday night and Sunday lunch displays are magnificent with live entertainment on offer with the resident pianist.

The Meadow Green restaurant has a private dining extension area catering for corporate events midweek, where groups are able to enjoy the live action stations rather than a set menu, and still have speeches in private. This also suits the corporate budget experience as there is no venue hire charge [midweek].

Tastefully decorated with an elegant contemporary finish, the restaurant truly echoes the charming luxury country house feel of this lodge – a five star luxury getaway in the heart of Centurion.

On the other hand is the lodge’s Camdeboo Restaurant – which offers an intimate and relaxed outdoor space to enjoy healthy light meals which include smoothiest salads, fruit platters and open sandwiches.  With an emphasis on using fresh ingredients, the menu has a good selection of healthy options as well as wonderful treats such as blueberry buttermilk pancakes and Irene’s famous homemade scones.  With an enclosed private garden, the restaurant is set on the deck overlooking the pool area and decorated in pristine white and hues of blue creating a refreshing ambience. The menu compliments your expectation of a spa menu.

Whether you are having a conference or an engagement party, kitchen team baby shower, birthday celebration, anniversary or just a romantic dinner, Chef van Deventer and his team have a brand new menu to cater for every taste. From the succulent braai menu to the cake menu for those with a sweet tooth – the fare will not disappoint.
