IZI Group takes over G4S

THE controversial G4S Cash Solutions has been acquired.

Leading group IZI Africa Pty Ltd has acquired the company after a successful completion, following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.

Although no details on financial transaction was revealed, according to the group, no interruption would impact the transition period.

The acquisition brings together two well-established operators with solid expertise in secure cash logistics, cash centre operations, and financial technology integration.

The combined scale, infrastructure, and talent pool will enable the IZI Group to offer a broader range of secure, cost-effective, and future-forward cash solutions with an expanded footprint across South Africa.

IZI Africa is a sister company within the IZI Group.

“This is a pivotal moment for the South African cash industry. As a proud local operator, we are committed to building sustainable, inclusive value for all stakeholders – our customers, employees and the broader economy.

This transaction strengthens our ability to deliver trusted cash management services and to support the critical role that cash continues to play in South Africa’s payment ecosystem,” says the joyous Albert Erasmus, Group CEO of IZI Group.

This landmark transaction marks a significant consolidation in the South African cash handling industry and signals a new era of strength, resilience, and innovation in the local cash solutions market.

The transition has been structured to ensure continuity for all customers, staff, and suppliers, says the company.

Operations across all regions remain uninterrupted, with a strong emphasis on stability and long-term growth.

The IZI Group remains committed to job preservation, skills development, and inclusive growth –values that are central to its identity as a South African-owned group with national reach and global ambition.

G4S Cash Solutions is the company that oversaw security contract with the Mangaung Prison, that hogged headlines when infamous Thabo Bester escaped from Prison Cell in May 2022.

Upon investigation, Government called for its contract to be terminated with immediate effect.
