JAECOO is pleased to announce the imminent arrival of the J7 SHS, the powerful plug-in hybrid version of the popular J7 SUV, in the South African market.
Set to launch next month, this electrified premium offering will be the second model to wear the JAECOO nameplate locally and the first of several new and electrified models to follow.
Powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, the J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System) delivers the best of both worlds: strong performance, exceptional fuel economy, and the refinement and comfort JAECOO customers have come to expect.
The J7 SHS delivers confident and responsive performance with its electrified drivetrain, sending power smoothly to the wheels via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). But its standout feature is the impressive 90 km all-electric range, making it possible to complete daily commutes—and even slightly longer trips—without using any fuel or producing tailpipe emissions. When connected to a 40 kW DC charger, the 18.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery can be recharged from 30–80% in just 20 minutes, helping motorists stay topped up and keep running costs low.
The combined range is equally impressive, with a possible 1,200 km on a single tank of fuel.
The J7 SHS consumes less than 5 L/100 km, making it one of the most frugal vehicles in its class. On a recent 1,100 km journey between Cape Town and Gqeberha, the J7 SHS showcased its efficiency by posting an average fuel consumption of just 4.88 L/100 km.

As expected from a JAECOO, the J7 SHS is generously equipped with the latest technology and safety features found within the sumptuously trimmed leather interior. More than 15 driver assistance features are fitted as standard, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic assist with braking.
While final specifications have yet to be confirmed, buyers can expect the usual refinements, including interior ambient lighting and 19-inch alloy wheels, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
The J7 SHS will be joined by several new JAECOO models, including the J5, along with additional electrified vehicles from the O&J stable in the coming months.
