This was revealed by the Standing Committee on Economic Opportunities, Tourism and Agriculture.
This is part of the Aerotroplolis development surrounding the Cape Town International Aiport, resulting in 3 000 jobs to be created.
“The development of Cape Town Aerotropolis will expand opportunities to a 20km radius around the airport. It will give access to opportunities to the poorest, youngest and most economically marginalised in the densest communities in the city.
The Metro South East represents more than 50% of the City population but only 3.2% of the City’s commercial investment,” read the media statement.
The site is in the process of being taken over by ACSA for the sake of a mixed development.
The Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain youth’s stand to benefit from this new development.
It is expected that tourism will contribute 100 000 new jobs on top of the existing 240 000 jobs in the sector in the Western Cape, according to DA.
