This once-off performance is an appetizer for the world-class jazz that Jozi residents can look forward to at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz this year.
Fresh young artist Zahara released her debut album Loliwe in 2011 and it catapulted her to stardom. The first issue sold out within 72 hours and 19 days later the album reached double platinum status. This made her the second musician after Brenda Fassie to reach this figure in such quick time.
She recently performed at the 2012 Cape Town Jazz Festival and was nominated for seven South African Music Awards. Kabomo – singer, emcee, poet, producer, writer, filmmaker, actor, public speaker – has a sound like no other in the market. His debut album All Things Grey spawned the national radio hit Uzobuya and turned him into a fixture on the airwaves.
Kabomo is a MetroFM Music Awards finalist in the Best Male category and a nominee in the Best R&B category. He has also opened for international artists Louie Vega, Vikter Duplaix, Josh Milan and Bilal.
