Lottery Commission to disburse more Covid-19 relief funds for needy organizations

The Commission has made available a further R150m to NGO’s/NPOs and NPCs as part of relief package during the Covid-19.

The funds will help to cater to pay stipends and salaries to employees and general operations in the sector, read a media statement from the Commission.

“Covid-19 has had a negative impact on organisations that work selflessly to serve vulnerable members of society, and the NLC recognizes the challenges the pandemic creates in the delivery of services and management of operations.

The distribution and use of this relief funding will be monitored in line with NLC policies to ensure that beneficiaries who are in desperate need for assistance receive it,” statement read further.

The NLC has thus far distributed R50million towards relief from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic to the Solidarity Fund and a further R10 million towards the provision of basic foods and hygiene goods hamper towards 54 NGOs nationally.

Details on how organisations can access funds will be communicated at later stage, according to the Commission.
