Maloyi promises delivery and nothing else in the troubled Bokone Bophirima

ONLY ONE female features in the newly elected North West- African National Congress pact.

Viola Motsumi was elected as deputy secretary in Nono Maloyi’s -new chairperson of the province -set up.

The hotly contested 9th elective congress was held at Rustenburg Civic Center this past weekend, that was marred by three postponements, court interdicts and cloning of tags.

But it was a clean sweep for the ‘N12 cabal’ on Monday after the results were announced of the province’s top five leadership.

Maloyi, former MEC for human settlement was elected chairperson with 370 votes, defeating the current premier, Bushy Maape, by 76 votes.

The newly-elected chairperson, said that stability and unity were part of his priority list as he assumed office.

He secured a victory after over 300 delegates voted his entire slate into the top five.

Maloyi also said that he has no intentions of removing Premier Bushy Maape from office in the next coming days.

“There are just too many challenges ahead of us. Our focus is on getting into branches of the ANC and ensuring that we rebuild the structures, renew and unify, stabilising government both at a provincial level and a local level,” Maloyi said.

This is the first elected leadership in the North West since 2018, when the then-PEC was disbanded and former premier, Supra Mahumapelo, stepped down.
