THE 2024 Triland route has been revived.
This was confirmed by the Mpumalanga Tourism & Parks Board, during the recent Meetings Africa held in Sandton.
Triland route includes Mozambique, eSwatini and SA, whose objective is to develop and position it as a world class tourism, trade and investment destination, amongst the said countries.
The collaboration of the MOU is for the three tourism entities to form regional collaboration and support exchange programmes to grow tourism, as part of trans-frontier parks.
“The Triland route is really growing and we are seeing an increase in demand for packages that combine Mpumalanga’s safari experiences with attractions in the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of Mozambique,” MTPA chief executive Mduduzi Vilakasi, was quoted.
It begins next week with ‘breakfast’ in Mpumalanga, ‘lunch’ in eSwatini and ‘dinner’ at Mozambique.
The familiarisation route will see tour operators showcasing different tourism offerings available in each country.
Says Vilakazi, the tour will also encompass other SADC States, and would include BRICS in the form of international visits in India, China, as part of economic growth and develop sustainable, responsible tourism.
The Triland route objective is to increase demand for packages that combine Mpumalanga’s safari experiences with attractions in the Kingdom of eSwatini and the Republic of Mozambique and targets affluent travellers between the mentioned States.
The concept was conceived in 2009, unfortunately in 2021/22 Covid hit, and it was shelved. In 2024 it has been revisited to ‘augment for the lost time’.
