New Capitals captain Keshav Maharaj is excited to have the Windies quartet on board

CENTURION is building up for a Calypso Cricket explosion with a quartet of West Indies superstars ready to set the stage alight for the Pretoria Capitals in Betway SA20 Season 4.

The Windies have long been the global T20 trailblazers, having been crowned ICC T20 World Cup champions in 2012 and 2016, through their unique and entertaining brand of cricket.

Andre “Dr Dre” Russell, who was part of both those T20 World Cup-winning squads, heads to the nation’s capital along with the big-hitting Sherfane Rutherford, allrounder Roston Chase and experienced top-order batter Shai Hope.

Russell’s return to the Capitals is nostalgic with the decorated allrounder having started his illustrious IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) way back in 2012. Rutherford, too, made his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals and now returns to the franchise in Betway SA20.

New Capitals captain Keshav Maharaj is excited to have the Windies quartet on board.

“The overseas contingent in Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Andre Russell have got a phenomenal record in T20 cricket and bring great leadership,” Maharaj said.

“And also Shai Hope. He has been in phenomenal form in all formats of the game. A true leader in West Indian cricket, and in League cricket around the world, so looking forward to that.”

Betway SA20 Season 1 runners-up have not only refreshed their roster with Caribbean flair, but now also boast some of South Africa’s finest talent in Dewald Brevis, Lungi Ngidi and Lizaad Williams.

They will be guided by cricket legends in former India captain Sourav Ganguly alongside the Proteas’ former highest Test wicket-taker Shaun Pollock.

This has ramped up the excitement ahead of the Capitals’ Season 4 opener against neighbours and rivals Joburg Super Kings at Centurion on 27 December, 2025.

With less than 10 days to go before the action gets underway on 26 December, Capitals’ 20th Player Leandie du Randt is eager to get down to Centurion and is urging all the Capitals fans to come out and roar along.

“I am looking forward to my Pretoria mense (people) bringing the gees!” Du Randt said.

“Let’s be honest, nobody puts the ‘pret’ (fun) in Pretoria like people from Centurion.

“We are ready. So, if you’re a fan, and also live there, please come and enjoy the gees with me.

“It’s December, you can bring your family, your friends. Let’s just have fun like only Pretoria people can.”

Aside from incredible cricket, fans can expect free giveaways, fun activities for the kids (stilt walkers, balloon artists, face painters), DJs on the entertainment stage, dance cams, innings break activities and entertainment. Kids are welcome to play on the field for the first hour after gates open (weather dependant) and are encouraged to bring a bat and a soft ball along to enjoy the field.

Betway SA20 partners are also giving fans many chances to win.

Spectators have a chance to win big with a clean one-handed catch in Betway’s Catch R2 Million competition. Suzuki will also be giving away a brand new Suzuki Swift GL+. Absa cardholders will enjoy ticketing discounts as well as a chance to win up to R200 000 at every live Betway SA20 match. Switch will be giving away R5000 at each match, and Castle Lite is back with their spin-and-win wheel.

Betway SA20 will be the place to be this summer with tickets across all six stadiums selling fast.

Fans and vibe-seekers are encouraged to secure their front-row seats at www.SA20.co.za or at the stadium ticket office.

Gates open 3 hours before the first ball and spectators are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the full Betway SA20 experience.
