THE NATIONAL Youth and Development Agency’s boss Waseem Carrim is under investigation.
This stems from allegations of corruption against Carrim, according to the whistle-blower.
This was confirmed by the agency’s board chairperson Asanda Luwaca, who confirmed an independent probe has been launched into the allegations brought to their attention by an impeccable source.
“We have received such allegations and because of the nature of the allegations, what we then decided as the board is to appoint an independent legal firm who will then assess and investigate the veracity of those claims that have been brought to us,” says Luwaca.
The agency would know of the steps to take after completion of the probe in November, she says.
“We are happy to say that we would be receiving the report from the legal team in the next month after they have done the due processes and satisfied with the methodology used and after that, we would be able to take necessary recourse action.”
In past years’ NYDA has been marred in corruption, malfeasance and financial irregularities.
Its unconfirmed if the CEO has been suspended at the time of publishing.
Carrim did not answer his mobile nor respond to emails sent for a comment.
