She will be attending the International AIDS Conference and also perform on June 16, as part of supporting the call for sustained global funding to end or minimise this epidemic disease ravaging the world.
Latifah will be joined by Common, another international hip hop star.
“I am excited to be part of the ‘Keep The Promise Concert’ in Durban, South Africa. It’s my first time in South Africa and it feels good to be going for such a great cause,” Latifah said in statement.
The AIDS Conference returns to SA after 15 years in commemoration of ‘keep the promise’. SA has been instrumental and championing the importance of this scourge by providing necessary medication and education to the public.
Both stars will be joined by local artists such as Mi Casa and Big Nuz as well as Zambian-born artist B-Flow will perform live during the free concert; with Proverb and Ayanda-Allie Paine acting as MCs.
The free concert takes place at Sahara Stadium on June 16.
