SA’s duo TKZee confirmed to share stage with Soul II Soul

ITS NO ‘Halloween’, TKZee has been confirmed as one of the supporting acts at this years’ Liberty Intimate Evening Series.

The founders of “Gaz” music will share the stage with world’s greatest -Soul II Soul, who are synonymous with SA’s arts and culture setup.

Johannesburg- Montecasino opens the first of the two-legged affair on February 1 2025, followed by Cape Town at Kirstenbosch on 08.

Sans the late Tokollo Tshabalala, the duo Kabelo Mabalane and Zwai Bala, met at school in the early Nineties –and became the biggest-selling kwaito band in South African musical history when their 1997 and 1998 singles “Phalafala” and “Shibobo“, both earned sales more than 100,000 copies, making TKZee a household name across the African continent.

Their “Halloween” album (1998) was a record that stood for well over a decade.

The group split in 2002 to pursue solo careers but reunited for the 2009 album “Coming Home”, going on to be one of only six musical acts to represent Africa in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Johannesburg.

There were tax issues but it seems that was sorted.

Having seen both “Booga Luv” as Kabelo is aptly known to his die hard fans, and Zwai express themselves on stage, its gonna be worth spending that rand.

“At Liberty, we remain committed to being ‘In It With You,’ supporting South Africans through life’s complexities and shared experiences,” says Marees Bostander, Head of Brand Strategy and Sponsorships at Liberty.

“The Soul II Soul concert series is a celebration of connection, resilience, and joy—an opportunity for audiences to relive cherished memories and create new ones through the timeless power of music.”

For the past years’ Liberty Group hosted top international stars as part of the Intimate Evening Series shows and its no-wonder this time they had to dig deep to secure the services of Soul II Soul, for another ROUND…
