SATOVITO added to the Indaba Tourism Advisory Committee

PREVIOUSLY, excluded from Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) 2025 Advisory Committee, the South African Township and Village Tourism Organisation (SATOVITO) has now be afforded a platform to add its voice.

It’s a case of change of hearts by decision-makers, as SATOVITO addresses concerns on behalf of the township and village tourism sector in the country.

The ATI Advisory Committee is a specialised panel of industry leaders and experts with extensive experience in managing world-class travel trade shows.

Following the news of being added, Tumi Magongoa says it was a relief that they’ve been given a platform on this prestigious panel of high calibre of experts within the travel and trade sector.

“On why initially we were excluded still boggles my mind, but are happy to have a say on the panel in mapping forward the concerns of our townships and villages, who are the backbone of tourism from job creation to economical spin-offs this country is benefitting from,” continued Magongoa, who said they received a letter of invitation from the South African Tourism, that promotes and market the Tourism Indaba, scheduled for May.

SATOVITO will be represented by Lusanda Fibi, a passionate advocate for township and village tourism.

“Enhancing Buyer Quality and Industry Growth SATOVITO’s participation ensures a strong voice for South Africa’s diverse and vibrant township and village tourism sector.

By bringing our unique insights to the table, we aim to enhance the quality of buyers at ATI, ensuring they are aligned with the authentic and immersive experiences that define our communities.

Our contribution will help attract the right trade partners—those who value cultural depth, sustainability, and community-driven tourism,” says SATOVITO in a media statement.

Their (industry experts) collective knowledge is crucial in shaping an event that delivers maximum value to exhibitors, buyers, and the broader tourism industry.
