The embattled Social development minister Bathabile Dlamini, has been ducking and diving to meet the committee to give clarity on the status of the social grants programme.
Dlamini failed last week to meet the committee and the agitated Godi said if on Tuesday, the minister does not make it, they will go ahead with or without her appearance.
As things stand, the fate of 17million grant recipients remains unclear, following the contract of the current agent‚ Cash Paymaster Services (CPS)‚ expires at the end of this month March 2017.
CPS contract has been declared invalid by the highest court in the land Constitutional Court and Dlamini’ department has not assured to anyone who will take over the contract.
The minister was quoted that “a new contract with CPS had been negotiated‚ but had yet to be signed.”
His master President Jacob Zuma has, meanwhile, assured South Africans that the social grants will be paid in April.
Godi has made no secret about his views on Dlamini’s handling of the grants saga.
