‘Stubborn’ Suzuki Dzire makes an indelible mark on the road

You might call it a superlative such as “uber ride” as some did.

It might not boast latest features as its competitors do have but one thing for certain; it will take you to wherever your feet desires to be.

For the uninitiated we’re talkin’ the upgraded Suzuki Dzire that now comes with new striking features, new grille and front-bumper which combine the grille and flared lower air-intake into one double-volume hexagonal grille with black number plate mounting.

We took it for a test and disappointed a big NO, suffice to indicate the lack of features now associated with latest other motoring brands, this could be a low-down for Dzire.

Suzuki SA has been outmanouvering its competitors in the form of unit sales and with the economic decline the likes of Dzire sedan comes in handy.

The refreshed Suzuki Dzire, is packed with nicely done exterior design and crammed in more specifications and safety features, without increasing its value.

The interior provides new-look upholstery, which creates a premium feeling in the cabin and is hard-wearing and durable.

It offers electric windows, power steering, an immobiliser and alarm system, air conditioning and remote central locking as standard.

The specifications level adds chrome detailing, front fog lamps, an audio system with auxiliary input, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and a tachometer.

Dzire also feature adjustable rear air vents with an additional 12V socket, as well as a rear armrest with integrated cup holders.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) a new feature has been added without additional cost. Standard safety kit includes 2 airbags and anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution and emergency brake assistance.

Fuel-wise, as indicated in my opening remark, is convenient to such an extent we did Soweto, Pta, East Rand and Magaliesberg without convening a meeting on petrol that is powered by 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and lightweight HEARTECT. Its quite frugal to run.

Yes, when you have an itchy feet like yours- Dzire should be your ideal partner, stru!

Dzire claims 4.9 L/100 km on the combined testing cycle. In terms of engine outputs, there’s 61 kW and 113 Nm, and a 5-speed manual gearbox is what we tested.

As a family car, it has a large boot but limited leg-room.

Forget about superlatives- Dzire is “strong, determined and stubborn” on the road.

It is comes with a five-year / 200 000 km comprehensive mechanical warranty and a service plan for two years or 30 000 km.

It retails for R196 000.00

Verdict

Performance 1-10 (4)

Fuel 1-10 (6)

Ed Note: The Suzuki Dzire (stylized as the Suzuki DZire, previously known as Suzuki Swift Dzire but still sold as Suzuki Swift sedan in some markets) is a subcompact sedan made for the Indian market since 2008.

It was developed as a variation of the Suzuki Swift hatchback. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was launched in 2008 and was based on the second generation of the Swift hatchback.

Dzire is the local Algerian name of Algiers the capital, and its also the local name of Algeria.

It means “strong in material matters, determined and stubborn.”

Image SLM (Despite shortcomings- Suzuki Dzire does make an indelible on the road).
